Colonel James F. Keathley, Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Pete Rahn, MoDOT Director conducted a press conference to announce that the efforts to reduce highway fatalities was successful.
The number of fatalities in 2007 was under 1,000, breaking a 14 year trend. The Sing for Safety Foundation is a safety coalition partner of the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, a group of safety advocates who united to attack the problem of traffic crashes and death.
Melissa Gall and fellow students from MICDS and students from Pattonville High School, two schools participating in Battle of the Belt, were asked to attend the press conference as teen representatives.

On November 20, 2007, Melissa Gall, founder of the Sing for Safety Foundation received the Governors Commendation for their commitment to teen safety.
